Didn't know about the S&M cult!

this was my source for the sexual harassment thing, from the Guardian:

http://www.flameout.org/flameout/gurus/sogyal_sexualhealing.html

Re parking my brain, well, i guess i disagree. it seems to me that its when people park their brains that they end up signing up to bizarre beliefs or exploitative gurus.

anyway, as i said in the posting, i have great respect for Buddhism, its just im not Indian, and think we have as great resources in my own culture.

Factual error regarding Sogyal Lakar aka Rinpoche....

Factual error regarding Sogyal Lakar aka Rinpoche. He was never accused of sexual assault while drunk. You are muddling him up with Trungpa R. Sogyal is a sexual predator on a grand scale. He was sued for sexual assault and battery in 1994.Currently maintains a sado-masochistic harem --paid for by naive and misguided devotees. He is self-indulgent nascissist and was never trained as a lama. A total conman and charlatan. But I warn against throwing out the Buddhist baby with his very dirty bathwater. You present a string of intellectual rationales -- which in my view is not the way to arrive at an understanding of religion and/or spirituality. You can't being to understand until you have parked your brain. You can drive off in it again, but first you have to bring thoughts under control. A month's solitary meditation retreat should do the trick. And I recommend Lama Tsultrim Allione as an excellent teacher.
